Module 5: Introduction

Just in case anyone is any doubt of the value of all of this, cultural tourism is one of the fastest tourism markets in the world, and Manchester wants to increase its share of a market already worth over £232million in direct tourism spend in the city.

Whilst they can come in all shapes and sizes – families, professional couples, parties – and, whilst they may have different needs and interest, cultural tourists share a desire to get under the skin of the city and have a unique experience, shaped by engaging with local culture and meeting local people.

This final module takes a quick look at some of the ways in which we can help visitors have a great experience – not just drawing on our knowledge of what’s on, but is also about understanding their needs, keeping up to date, helping them get around and inspiring them with suggestions that help them decide to stay longer or return again to stay as cultural tourists in our city.
